Victorian Journeys

Where every arrival has a story

A GRAND WELCOME SINCE 1860

Before The Queen at Chester became a hotel, the railway had already begun changing the way Britain travelled.

Built in 1860, directly opposite Chester’s railway station, The Queen was created for a new generation of Victorian travellers arriving in the city in style. The grand porch became a place of arrivals and departures, anticipation and adventure.

More than 160 years later, Queen Victoria still watches over the entrance. The railway still runs alongside us. And that sense of excitement when you arrive somewhere new remains part of who we are.

From the first welcome to the last drink, take your time, explore, discover and enjoy the journey.

Your Victorian journey starts here.
